Record National Unemployment Figures

Dan Byles, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for North Warwickshire & Bedworth, today expressed his deep concern over soaring local unemployment rates.
As national unemployment figures released by the Office of National Statistics today showed the largest one month rise since records began, Dan has highlighted the worrying fact that over the last year unemployment in North Warwickshire has been rising at double the national rate.
Figures published recently by Warwickshire County Council showed that unemployment in North Warwickshire rose by 108% in 2008 - twice the national rise of 54%.
Speaking after the release of the shocking national figures today, Dan said:
"The national unemployment figures are truly awful, and the show that despite costing us all £billions, Labour's ineffective hyperactivity is doing nothing to help real people.
"But what worries me more is the situation here in North Warwickshire. We are being hammered by this recession, and unemployment has already doubled last year alone. With local jobless rates rising at twice the national rate, I am deeply concerned about the impact on ordinary, hardworking people across North Warwickshire & Bedworth.
"Every one of these numbers represents an individual or family whose life has been turned upside down, but according to Brown in his bunker everything is all right, he hasn't made any mistakes, and we still have the strongest economy in the world. What planet is he on?
"The IMF this week has said that the recession will be worse and last longer in the UK than in the rest of the world.
When will Gordon Brown admit that he is part of the problem?
"Until the people who caused this mess are gone, we can't get on with the job of putting things right. Gordon Brown's failures will take a generation to put right. Once again, it will fall to the Conservatives to roll up our sleeves and fix the country."
