Former Soldier Dan Byles Welcomes Flying of ‘Armed Forces Flag’ over Town Hall

Former Army Major Dan Byles, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, today welcomed the decision of the Borough Council to fly the new Armed Forces Flag above Nuneaton Town Hall to mark the launch of Armed Forces Week.
Dan Byles, who served for nine years as an Army officer and saw active duty in Bosnia and Kosovo, left the Army in 2005 to stand for Parliament after becoming ‘disillusioned with politicians’.
Speaking from Nuneaton Town Hall today, Dan said: “Nuneaton and Bedworth have a proud history of supporting our Armed Forces, and I am delighted to see that tradition continuing.
“Local people have supported our Gurkha veterans, have turned out in force to welcome our soldiers home from Afghanistan and Iraq, and Bedworth continues to honour our fallen soldiers on 11 November every year, regardless of what day of the week Rembembrance Day falls.”
“I know that I speak for all local former Service personnel when I express my humble thanks to the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth for their continued patriotism and support for serving and retired soldiers.”
