Fire Station Campaign Enters Final Week - Last Chance For Supporters To Make Their Voices Heard

The controversial consultation over the future of Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service comes to a close next week, with the 8th of December the last day on which the public can have their say. Bedworth Conservatives - who are opposed to proposals to close Bedworth fire Station - hit the streets for the final time on Saturday with their petition against the Chief Fire Officer's plans.
The leading Conservative campaigner, former soldier and prospective MP Dan Byles, urged local shoppers to not only sign the petition but to attend a planned march on Sunday 6th December in support of local fire stations.
Dan said:
"We were out with our petition again on Saturday, and the support we got from local people was as strong as ever.
"There is only one week left of the consultation period, and we are urging local people to come to Warwick on Sunday 6th December to take part in a rally and a march on Shire Hall.
"This will be our last chance to make County Councillors hear our voices, and listen to our message - which is to reject the Chief Fire Officer's proposals and to keep Bedworth Fire Station open.
"The march is non-political and has been organised by Karen Scarrott, an independent Warwick District Councillor. It is being supported by a broad coalition of campaigners, including the Fire Brigade Union and the Retained Firefighters Union. We will be assembling at Warwick Race Course at 1130 on Sunday 6th December, and the march will move off at around noon, ending up at Shire Hall. Please come along and support your fire station. If you don't, you can't complain if it's closed!"
