Departing for the North Pole

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." (Mark Twain)
Even more unusually I am doing to with my mother, who at 62 will be the oldest woman ever to reach the Magnetic North Pole! Together with my good friend Richard Profit, we are taking part in the Polar Race 2007 – walking/skiing 400 miles across the ice, hauling our food and equipment behind us on sleds.
You can learn more from the expedition website: www.carpediemtrust.com And hopefully, while we’re away, you should be able to track our progress on the race website: www.polarrace.com
"On a Polar expedition begin with a clear idea of which Pole you are aiming at, and try to start facing the right way. Choose your companions carefully - you may have to eat them." (Unknown)
