Dan calls on local Labour MP to 'stop voting against transparency'

Sir
MP’s have never been held in lower regard by the general public than they are today. Sadly, the current Labour Government must bear much (though I accept not all) of the responsibility for this.
Never has a British Government shown such a cavalier disregard for truth and honesty, for the role of Parliament, and for the British voter.
The latest controversy over MP’s second homes allowance, and the news that the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner has launched an investigation into Employment Minister Tony McNulty’s expense claims, makes it all the more important that there is full transparency surrounding MPs’ expense arrangements.
It is essential that MPs can be held to account by their constituents, and for that we need an end to the culture of secrecy surround MPs’ expenses.
So I call on our local Labour MP, Mike O’Brien, to stop voting against transparency in Parliament. To stop voting against measures to strengthen the Freedom of Information Act. And to stop abstaining or voting against measures to improve public scrutiny of MP’s expense claims.
This Labour Government has been quick to use the phrase ‘if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear’ when it comes to destroying ancient British freedoms and liberty.
So I say to you, Mike O’Brien, and the rest of your Party. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear from greater transparency.
If you continue to vote against giving your constituents the tools they need to hold you to account for how you spend taxpayers money, you will be letting down the ordinary people of North Warwickshire and Bedworth. And it may beg the question. Just whatare you trying to hide…?
