Dan Byles Gives Maiden Speech in the House of Commons

Dan Byles, Member of Parliament for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, has given his Maiden Speech in the House of Commons, outlining his agenda while serving as an MP. Dan thanked the electorate in North Warwickshire for entrusting him with honour of representing them in Parliament.

He paid tribute to his predecessor and to the Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, who has also represented North Warwickshire.

Dan outlined his support for retaining greenbelt land and the Bedworth fire station, as well as his opposition to the proposed route for the new High Speed rail link through Gilson, Water Orton and Middleton.

He also spoke of his time serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Medical Support Officer and how he left the Army to enter politics because of his deep concerns about the support we as a nation give to our Armed Forces.

The Maiden Speech is a Parliamentary tradition, in which newly elected MPs are afforded a limited time to introduce themselves and their constituencies to the Commons.

Dan says, "It is a pleasure and an honour to represent North Warwickshire and Bedworth in Parliament and to outline my love for the constituency and priorities for it, both at home and in Warwickshire."
