Dan Byles attends Bun Day

Dan Byles MP, North Warwickshire and Bedworth's newly elected Conservative Member of Parliament has attended the annual Bun Day celebrations in Bedworth. He was joined by the Mayor, Lady Daventry, local Councillors and officials of the Nicholas Chamberlaine Charitable Trust.

The annual event, held every year at Bedworth's Almshouses, celebrates the life and work of Nicholas Chamberlaine, who was Rector of Bedworth from 1664 until his death and whose will provided for the setting up of a school as well as the bulding of Almshouses.

This year's event was attended by childred from four local schools, their parents and hundreds of onlookers. Dan Byles watched a short service which included prayers and songs from the children. The event culminated with Dan and the other Guests of Honour handing out the fruit buns, that give the event its name, to the children and others attending.

Speaking after the event, Dan said, "Bun Day is a fantastic event for Bedworth - part of our history. It was delightful to take part and to see so many people enjoying themselves. The good weather made it even better."

Local Conservative Councillor, Damon Brown, added. "All the children did really well and it was an honour to take part in what is a great local community tradition."
