Conservatives in the stocks in aid of the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance

The Whitacres & Shustoke Show took place at Blythe Hall, Shustoke, on Saturday 1 August. Local Conservatives, lead by potential MP Dan Byles, spent the day raising money for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance by putting local politicians in the stocks and charging visitors to the show to hurl wet sponges at them.

Dan Byles and local councillors, including Coleshill County and Borough Councillor Peter Fowler, got a drenching as people queued up for the opportunity throw wet sponges at them - and it was all for a good cause.

Speaking after the show, Dan Byles said: "Despite the rain, the show was a great success and everybody seemed determined to have a great time regardless of the weather.

"We had a really good day - I can't imagine why everyone was so keen to put us local politicians in the stocks and hurl wet sponges at us...but for some reason they were!

"And it was all for a fantastic cause. The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance save lives every day of the week, and all without receiving a penny of taxpayers money. The average cost per mission is £1000, and they rely entirely on donations and fundraising from the public. So a big thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to get wetter than everyone else!"
