‘Fed Up With Politicians? So Am I’ Says Dan Byles

The country has been watching with increasing disgust and amazement as the stream of revelations regarding MPs’ expenses continues to dominate the news. One would-be MP, former soldier Dan Byles, says he is fed up with politicians and he wants to ‘knock some sense and honesty’ into them.

Today he called for a General Election to allow voters to pass judgement on their MPs.. Dan said: “I have been horrified at what MPs have been up to with their expenses. I used to argue that British politics was pretty clean, and that most scandals were isolated cases. Now I see that I was badly wrong.

“It’s too late for a few token gestures by MPs paying some expenses back. The only way to restore moral authority to Parliament is to hold an immediate General Election.

“Let’s allow the voters in each constituency to judge their own MPs. Sadly here in North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, many of our local MPs have consistently voted against reform and transparency. I find that disappointing.

“I served in the Armed Forces for nine years, and like my fellow soldiers I did it to serve my country, not for financial reward. I left the Army three years ago to come into politics because I was fed up with the politicians who were treating our soldiers with contempt.

“Now I am even more determined to get into Westminster to knock some sense and honesty into the place!”
